Mandera County Launches Digital e-Voucher PPR Vaccination

Kenya is strengthening livestock health services through a digital e-voucher vaccination system under the Food Systems Resilience Project (FSRP). The platform allows farmers to access subsidized vaccines—such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)—using electronic vouchers redeemed via mobile money services, including M-PESA.

 

The programme aims to improve animal health, enhance disease traceability, and boost livestock productivity. Farmers make a small co-payment, while vaccinations are administered by licensed veterinarians and trained paraprofessionals.
