INDENTIFICATION/MAPPING OF EXISTING FPOs/SACCOs

The project will ride on the existing POs which were federated through KCSAP, NARIGP and ELRP projects. The project will undertake mapping, grading and capacity needs assessment of existing FPOs/SACCOs to guide in decision making on strengthening of FPOs/SACCOs or establishment of new organizations where there are no existing institutions.

The project will mobilize federation of farmers into FPOs engaged in agri-business along selected value chains; build the capacity of the FPOs; and upgrade the value chain.

The three categories of FPOs/SACCOs that will be supported are: 

(i) The existing FPOs/SACCOs which have been supported by either KSCAP, NARIGP or ELRP; 

(ii) Existing FPOs that are currently not supported by either of the projects and that will be selected competitively based on suitability criteria to fit project beneficiary; and

 (iii) New FPOs/SACCOs formed through the federation of CIGs/VMGs supported by the project.
